About this model

adidas started the Adizero Adios Pro line in 2020 and unveiled this fourth version on September 25, 2024, a few days before the Berlin Marathon. It was developed in Herzogenaurach with athletes including Agnes Ngetich, Benson Kipruto and Amos Kipruto, and tested with runners in Kenya, Japan and the US.

Instead of a full carbon plate, adidas uses carbon-infused ENERGYRODS 2.0 with a double layer of LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam. The rocker point sits at 60 percent of the shoe's length, an idea taken from the Adios Pro Evo 1, so the foot tips forward sooner. The stack is 39 mm at the heel and 33 mm at the forefoot, a 6 mm drop, which keeps the heel under the 40 mm World Athletics limit. The upper is a woven mesh that stretches in one direction only, backed by internal Lightlock bands. A patch of Continental rubber sits under the forefoot, with Lighttraxion on the rest of the outsole, and adidas gives about 200 grams for a men's UK 8.5.

Reviewers found it lighter and bouncier than the Adios Pro 3, with a quicker roll off the forefoot. Solereview recommends it for 10K to marathon races at paces faster than about 4:30 per kilometer, mostly for midfoot and forefoot strikers. adidas calls the fit regular, but Doctors of Running and Believe in the Run found the toe area a little short and snug, and suggest half a size up for the marathon or if you are between sizes.
