About this model
In Nike's road running lineup, the Vomero is the maximum-cushioning family, next to the responsive Pegasus and the supportive Structure. The Vomero 18 came out in February 2025, and Nike calls it its softest, most cushioned ride. According to Nike, women runners shaped it. Their emphasis on cushioning and comfort led to the high stack, and the first prototype was built in a women's sample size.
The main change is the midsole: ZoomX on top of ReactX, a foam Nike rates 13% more responsive than its older React. It is the first Vomero with ReactX. The 17 paired ZoomX with Cushlon 3.0. The stack grew by 6 mm, to 46 mm at the heel and 36 mm at the forefoot, the tallest Vomero yet, with a 10 mm drop. Nike says it feels 18% softer than the 17. A stronger rocker and pods around the outsole smooth the roll from heel to toe, and the base is wide so the tall shoe does not wobble. The upper is engineered mesh with a plush tongue and lining and a new foam collar. Nike gives about 325 grams for a men's UK 9 (US 10).
Reviewers found it true to size, with more toe room than they usually get from Nike, and surprisingly stable for such a tall shoe. They rate it for easy days and long runs. It is heavy, though, and one tester worried that the exposed foam on the outsole will wear quickly. For tempo work and races they would use another shoe.
