About this model

Peter Moore designed the Air Jordan 1 for Nike. It was made for Michael Jordan during his Chicago Bulls days in November 1984 and released to the public in April 1985. The Low was there from the start, part of that first 1985 rollout next to the high, in two colorways, Metallic Navy and Natural Grey. Metallic Navy came back in 2016 and again in 2024.

Nike builds the Air Jordan 1 Low with a leather upper, a foam midsole holding an encapsulated Air-Sole unit, and a solid rubber outsole meant to grip on different surfaces. There is a logo on the heel and another on the tongue. The Air is modest. Cut open in a lab review, the shoe shows a thin Air unit under the heel, set in dense foam. The testers measured 22.9 mm of stack at the heel and 11.8 mm at the forefoot, well below the average sneaker they test, so it sits close to the ground and feels firm.

Grip is the highlight. The outsole set a record 0.61 in their friction test and held well on wet floors as well as dry. It also wore very little in their abrasion test. The weak points are comfort and break-in. The leather wrinkles quickly and the shoe takes a while to soften. The testers would not pick it for a full day on your feet. They weighed 411 grams for a men's US 9, and reviewers report that it fits true to size.

How this works

  1. The supplier page shows a completely different product, and that is normal. What arrives is what is photographed here.
  2. There are 2 colours. At the supplier you pick them by a code, not by the photo.
  3. You pay at the supplier. The order, the payment and the delivery are with him, not with us.

Which colour, which code

At the supplier, colours are codes rather than pictures. On this photo he has written the code next to each colour. Find yours, and that is the code to choose.
