About this model
Novak Djokovic worked with ASICS for more than two years on this shoe, which came out on January 1, 2023. According to Forbes, he wore the first prototype in practice at the 2021 Australian Open, and testing went on through 2022. ASICS launched it alongside the regular Court FF 3, and the Novak edition is the version he plays in, with his logo on the heel and colorways of his own.
ASICS designed it to give a stable landing and take load off the body, so more energy goes into the swing and the recovery step comes sooner. The outsole is split into two pieces at the rear and one under the forefoot, which ASICS says improves shock absorption by nearly 7 percent. A TWISTRUSS unit in the midfoot links the pieces for stability on landings and slides. Cushioning is FLYTEFOAM with forefoot GEL, on an AHARPLUS rubber outsole with PGUARD protection at the toe and heel. The upper is a one-piece MONO-SOCK with no separate tongue.
It is on the heavy side. ASICS lists about 410 grams, Tennis.com gives 14.5 oz for a men's US 9, and RunRepeat found it about an ounce heavier than the average tennis shoe. Both reviews describe a snug, locked-in fit, and RunRepeat rates it true to size. They also warn that the sock-like opening is hard to pull on and that the shoe may not suit wide feet. ASICS made a clay-court version too, with its own tread.
